How to change art on a Samsung Frame TV (and rotate, favourite and search it)

Once art is on the Frame, changing it takes seconds – but the rotation and favourite features are where the TV becomes genuinely useful, because you can load a season’s worth of art and let it cycle. Here is how each part works on the remote and in the SmartThings app.
Change the art with the remote
- Put the TV in Art Mode (press Power once from TV mode, or the dedicated Art Mode button on newer remotes).
- Press Select or the up arrow to open the Art Mode home.
- Move between Art Store, Favourites and My Collection.
- Highlight a piece and press Select. The TV may ask for a matte style and colour; confirm and the art changes.

Change the art from your phone
SmartThings is faster when you have many pieces: SmartThings → Frame TV → Art Mode → My Collection, tap a piece, Display on TV. You can also change the matte here, favourite the piece, or delete it. This is also how to change Frame TV art from a phone when the remote is elsewhere.
Rotate art automatically (slideshow)
The Frame can cycle through a set of pieces on a timer:
- In SmartThings: open My Collection or Favourites, tap Select (multi-select), choose the pieces, then Slideshow. Set the interval (10 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 6 hours, daily, or similar depending on model) and whether to shuffle.
- On the TV: Art Mode home → gear icon → Slideshow (on some years under Art Mode options). Choose the source – Favourites or My Collection – and the interval.
A practical setup: favourite the current season’s designs, set a daily rotation, and the wall changes itself. When the season turns, swap the favourites. The seasonal collections are organised for exactly this.
Favourite art
Highlight any piece – Art Store or your own – and press the heart (or Select → Add to Favourites). Favourites are the easiest slideshow source and the quickest way back to pieces you like. Art Store favourites require an active subscription to display; your own uploads do not.
Search for art
- Art Store: browse by category, colour, artist or collection on the TV; in SmartThings the Art Store tab has a search field.
- My Collection: there is no search, and uploads show as thumbnails only. Name files clearly before uploading (e.g.
winter-birches-watercolor.jpg) – file names are not shown, but a tidy batch is easier to recognise.
Manage My Collection
- Delete pieces you no longer display (Select → Delete) if uploads start to fail – older Frames have limited storage.
- Change the matte on any piece without re-uploading: Select → Matte.
- Re-order is not supported; the newest uploads appear first.
Common questions
The art changed by itself. A slideshow is on, or Art Store’s “Art of the day” is enabled. Turn either off in Art Mode settings.
The art will not change – the TV goes black. That is a different problem, usually the motion sensor or an HDMI device: see Frame TV art keeps turning off.
