What art comes with the Samsung Frame TV?
Updated September 17, 2026
A new Frame arrives with art on it, which makes the first day easy and the second month confusing – because much of what you saw at first was a trial. Here is exactly what is included, what stays free, and where the rest comes from.
Included out of the box
- Preloaded artworks. Every Frame ships with a starter set stored on the TV – around 20–30 pieces depending on the year: a mix of paintings, photography and abstract designs chosen to show off the panel. These stay on the TV and can be displayed without an account or subscription.
- The Art Store free rotation. Inside the Art Store there is a Free (complimentary) section that changes monthly – typically a couple of dozen pieces. You can display them without paying, but you cannot keep a favourite once it rotates out.
- An Art Store trial. New Frames include a trial of the full catalogue – usually one month in the US, occasionally longer in promotions, and two years in some Costco bundles. During the trial you see a few thousand pieces; when it ends, favourites from the paid catalogue stop displaying. Pricing and cancelling: Art Store subscription cost.
What is not included
- The full Art Store catalogue after the trial – that is $4.99/month or $49.99/year.
- Any art you can keep permanently beyond the preloaded set.
- Seasonal or decor sets – the preloaded pieces are general.
The three art sources, explained
| Source | Cost | Kept permanently? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Preloaded pieces | Included | Yes | Fixed set; cannot be expanded |
| Art Store – free rotation | Free | No (rotates) | Needs internet + Samsung account |
| Art Store – full catalogue | Subscription | Only while subscribed | Museum and artist works |
| My Collection – your uploads | Free | Yes | Any 16:9 JPEG; unlimited within storage |
My Collection is the one most owners under-use. It accepts your own photos and any downloaded art via SmartThings or USB (how to upload), displays with the same mattes and sensors as Store art, and is the only source that keeps working when Samsung’s servers are down.
Where to get more art without subscribing
- Free downloads: our free Frame TV art page – 36 designs including seasonal sets, no sign-up.
- Public-domain museum images: the Met, Rijksmuseum, Art Institute of Chicago and the National Gallery of Art publish high-resolution scans; crop to 16:9 and resize to 3840 × 2160.
- One-time purchases: Etsy singles (what to look for) or a bundle – ours is 1,000 designs composed for the Frame.
Which Frame TV art choices look best?
Whatever the source, painterly, muted, matte-looking images look like art on the Frame; bright photographs look like a screensaver. The preloaded set is chosen on that basis and so is the Art Store’s front page. If you are building your own collection, the best Frame TV art selection and how to make Frame TV art look real explain what to pick and how to set the TV.
